Mum Was Amazed In A Year With Triplets Conceived Just Months After Giving Birth The First Child

Jessica and her husband Harry, from Sheffield, were sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ enough to find out they were expecting again after having a baby girl just five months earlier. But when the couple were then told they’d be having triplets, they couldn’t believe it.

Jessica and Harry Pritchard had triplets just eleven months after the birth of their second child and are now the proud parents of five children. Jessica, 31, had only given birth to their daughter Mia five months before she was sᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ Fɪɴᴅ ᴏᴜᴛ sʜᴇ ᴡᴀs ᴘʀᴇɢɴᴀɴᴛ ᴀɢᴀɪɴ. But in another unexpected revelation, she and Harry, 34, were then told they were having triplets.

“I don’t think Harry believed me until I showed him the scan picture, he was very ᴇxᴄɪᴛᴇᴅ, It definitely was [a big sʜᴏᴄᴋ], although we consider ourselves very blessed.” recalled Jessica

As Cᴏᴠɪᴅ ʀᴇsᴛʀɪᴄᴛɪᴏɴs ᴍᴇᴀɴ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛᴀɴᴛ mothers have to go to scans alone, Jessica had to wait until she was given the scan picture to show Harry the three little ones. She said that she hadn’t been given any indication she’d be having triplets, so it was a huge surprise and meant that she and Harry had quite the shopping list to get through.

“It was more a case of preparing to buy three of everything: three cots etc… and a triple pushchair”, Jessica said.

The triplets – Ella, George and Olivia – were born in April this year, 11 months after the birth of baby Mia in May 2020. And the family from Sheffield, which also includes eight-year-old Molly, have taken to their new roles wonderfully – with Molly especially keen to help. Who ᴡᴇɪɢʜᴇᴅ 2lb 9oz, 3lb 13oz and 3lb 11oz respectively.

Welcoming triplets meant the couple now have five children under the age of eight, but Jessica says they feel “so lucky and blessed” to have their brood.

“Meal times are fun because they all need feeding at the same time. Apart from it taking longer to feed, there are also three nappies to change instead of one. I just need to be more organised, but I’m quite an organised person as it is.”

Getting used to having such a big family has not been difficult for primary school teacher Jessica, as she has been strict with herself about organisation.

She said: “It’s definitely been a big surprise, but a lovely one and it hasn’t taken long to adjust at all. I’m very organised, so I just need to plan ahead – even down to clothes being laid out the evening before.”
