It’s safe to say that many people recognize how hard the job of a firefighter can be. They have to put themselves in dangerous situations on multiple occasions in order to help others, whether it be saving the lives of a family whose house is burning down, or having to climb an incredibly tall tree to rescue a furry friend.
Many people who are in the same district form a very close bond with one another, and before you know it, a firefighting team becomes a firefighter family. This was especially true for the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District in California.
On top of that, many people believe that firefighters tend to be photogenic – who doesn’t want to look at pictures of handsome heroes? Well, this firefighting unit managed to take it a step further and added babies to their pictures. But not just any babies – their own babies. Yes, this unit managed to have nine babies born at around the same time and celebrated by having a photo shoot of the babies with their firefighter dads.
The Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District (RCFPD) firefighters had nine babies born between March and July of 2019, two boys and seven girls. The celebratory photo shoot that followed produced some of the cutest pictures ever, such as the beaming fathers holding their babies aloft in a row, and the babies surrounded by firefighting gear — hoses, helmets, boots and so forth — spelling “RCFPD.”
It’s clear that this firefighting unit has more in common than just their jobs! While this group of firefighters was already close, they now have an unbreakable bond and an even stronger family unit.

When the nine firefighters found out that they were all going to become fathers within just a few months of one another, they couldn’t believe it. One firefighter told Inside Edition:
“I remember when we found out there was like, six, and then it was like, oh no, wait, there’s seven, no there’s eight. Then we found out about the ninth. We were just like, ‘I can’t believe it.’”
The RCFPD men and their wives were all over the moon with their adorable bundles of joy, so they decided to commemorate the joyous occasion with an unforgettable photoshoot.
One of the happy new mothers, Lindsay Shook, shot the pictures and then the RCFPD took to social media to share the pictures of their delightful and unique baby boom. They posted, “Say hello to Rancho Cucamonga Fire’s newest little family members!” on Facebook, followed by “We are thrilled to see our RCFD fire family keep growing!”
What may have been the cutest part of the photoshoot was the fact that all nine babies were lying down on their dad’s jackets while wearing their own firefighting onesies. And of course, who could miss the matching headbands the two boys and seven little baby girls were wearing!
The photos went gone viral and have been shared more than 3,000 times and garnered more than 7,000 likes. A huge number of messages congratulating the happy firefighters have also been forwarded to the department’s Facebook page. One question on many people’s minds is how the department is going to manage with nine firefighters out on paternity leave all at once.
